Hacker Homework Reflection

The hacker homework assignment was a good exercise to do. Some of the activities were review, and some were new to me.  As I worked through the exercises, my mind began to wonder on past writings I have done. I wondered about what I do wrong without even noticing.  The activities seemed so simple and easy when you just had to pick the correct sentence but when I went to the edit and compare sections they got more challenging. Our group was focused on the section 11-1 and 11-2, mixed construction. Mixed construction is something I have never really heard of before. After the first couple of examples I was about to notice the main theme of mixed construction that is; a sentence that begins with one type of structure and shifts to another type of structure. Some example of mixed construction are: Mixed: Every few hundred feet a test sample of the layer of earth a bit of it is analyzed to determine the distance from oil. Revised: Every few hundred feet a test sample of the layer of earth is analyzed to determine the distance from oil. Mixed: Out in the rain was coming down on the children. Revised: Out in the rain the children were getting wet. Doing this hacker exercise was overall very helpful for me.
