What do people answer when they are asked, "who am I?"

When people are asked the question "Who am I?" there are a variety of different answers. Everything from where you started to where you want to end. In my opinion I think it is more important to focus on the past more then the future. The past is what makes you who you are. You learn from mistakes and successes. That is what makes you who you are. Your family and the environment that you grew up in and all the back ground information is what makes you you. To me the future shapes you in some way but doesn't have as large of an impact on you. Goals and dreams are always changing as you grow. When you are asked to describe yourself or who you are you don't say I'm going to be a firefighter or the president. You tell them more about your past experiences. From the note cards it seemed to be half past and half future.
