Story-in-a-Box

On first look at all the items in the box I wanted to find a creative way get them all together in some creative way. Then when you simplify the items and look at the big picture the items in the box are closer then on first glance. The items are all unique and different and the theme of the box makes it more like life. Growing up we are sheltered, our parents control what we do, what we wear, what we see, and even what we eat. The box represents the shelter we are put into. The cardboard box that the items we were put into is like our parents shelter. Eventually it will break down and we will become more independent and on our own. When that happens you get to see things and people you have never seen before from places you have never heard of all around the world. Not one of the items was the same they all had there own original design and looked to be hand made. The majority of the items were from all different places as well. The rule can represent America sense Americans are the only place where the metric system is not used.   The canoe to me represents the Native American people. There was a Finka in the box, which is a Spanish home. Also there looked to be a wallet and some coins from an Asian country. And the black statue looked to be from an African Country. From my guess the whole world was just about covered, but then when I was looking around campus today I realized there are many people on campus that might not be from here. Then looking back on the items and comparing them to people I got to thinking each one of those items has there own story on how or why they were created and what the meaning is behind them. People are very much the same way. Every one has their own story on who they are. That is even what our first assignment was. We talked about who we are and how people would describe themselves. Every one has their own story to tell.
